Residents of sheltered housing flats in St Andrews Way at Limpsfield Chart have been told their alarm service is being discontinued from 2 April. They've also been told their warden is being withdrawn despite no cost saving to Tandridge District Council.
OLRG's Limpsfield Councillor, Phil Davies, was called in by residents after they received notification of the cuts from the Council. He said: "I am concerned because the residents are vulnerable people and this was a frightening letter to receive.
I am further concerned because after making enquiries of Council officers, they confirmed to me that there will be no saving made from withdrawing the sheltered scheme coordinator from St Andrews Way on 2 April 2018. This is because all nine coordinators are being maintained until 2020/21 at which point there will be a reduction in manpower to six coordinators. If there is no cost saving would it not be better to maintain the service to the residents that need it most?"
