Council sells Johnsdale car park for £750,000

Tandridge District Council has now sold the Johnsdale car park in Oxted to property developers St William for just £750,000 which seems a very low price.

We understand that St William intend to build around 40 flats on the site and are expected to submit a planning application soon.

St William have already been given planning permission for 77 flats on the adjacent gasholder site bringing a total of around 117 flats for the two sites together.

There will be no affordable housing provision in either development which is disappointing.

The loss of Johnsdale car park and the provision needed for the flats will put extra pressure on parking.

The Council now intends to submit a planning application to itself to build a multi-storey car park, with an additional two decks, on the site of its Ellice Road car park.
