Notice from Surrey Highways re Brook Hill in Oxted

The Surrey County Council Brook Hill (D437) Oxted Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2021

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Brook Hill (D437) Oxted that is crossed by the road bridge known as “Brook Hill Bridge” and for a distance of 10 metres each side. The alternative route will be via Brook Hill; Godstone Road; A25 Godstone Road; Barrow Green Road; Sandy Lane; and Brook Hill or this same route in reverse.

This Order, which will commence on 03 May 2021 for a period of 12 months is required because works are being, or are proposed to be executed on or near the said road, to be carried out by or on behalf of Surrey County Council, including but not limited to: installing temporary edge restraints and/or bridge parapet replacement and/or highway maintenance works. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in force 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. Due to the nature of the works and for reasons of safety, vehicular access through the closure will not be maintained. All vehicular traffic will be required to follow the signed diversion route. No Sole Access will be affected.
