We are delighted to announce that David Stamp will be standing as OLRG's candidate for the Oxted North and Tandridge ward and Claire Blackwell will be standing for the Limpsfield ward in the Tandridge District Council elections on 2 May.
We will shortly be announcing the OLRG candidate for Oxted South ward.
David is from Tandridge Parish and has lived in the district all his life. He is a local businessman - together with his father, Ivor Stamp, he owns and runs one of the area's longest established businesses, Days Garage, which has branches in Hurst Green, Godstone and Edenbridge.
David said: 'I am really keen to work to represent residents' interests and the interests of local businesses and hopefully to make a real difference to the future of our district. I have seen the change for the better that independent residents' association Councillors are making at Tandridge District Council and I strongly believe that they are the best way forward to ensure the community is put first and gets the best deal.'
If elected, David would join OLRG's existing Tandridge District Councillors Jackie Wren and Catherine Sayer in representing Oxted North and Tandridge Ward.
Claire has lived in Limpsfield for more than 25 years, working as an accounts and office manager for London based businesses and more recently in Godstone. She is married with two children who attend Oxted School. She has done voluntary work at Limpsfield Infant School and with the 1st Oxted Scouts Group as well as campaigning on a number of local safety issues.
Claire said: 'It is very important to me that the voices of residents are heard and it is fantastic to see how the addition of Independent Residents' Association Councillors at Tandridge District Council have made a real difference for the better. I would be delighted to be a part of the OLRG team; to make sure that residents' interests continue to be properly represented and to be part of a change that delivers a Council that truly works for all of us.'
If elected, Claire would join OLRG's existing Tandridge District Councillor, Phil Davies, in representing Limpsfield Ward.
