2 hour free parking petition - deadline 20 April
OLRG has joined with the Oxted Traders Association to launch a petition to change the Council's decision to allow only 1 hour of free parking in its Oxted car parks.
The petition also calls for free Saturday parking and an increase in the all day charge to discourage commuter parking.
The petition to the Council Leader, Martin Fisher, who represents the Oxted North and Tandridge ward, can be signed on this link
There are also paper copies in many of Oxted's shops if you prefer to sign there.
The petition will be presented to Councillor Fisher at a meeting of the full Council on 20th April.
The all day charge for parking in Ellice Road car park is only £6.50 and this seems likely to encourage commuters to park there. When OLRG Councillor Jackie Wren raised this point she was told by the Council that there is spare capacity in the station car park so it's not a problem.
However, the Council's Parking Study of the station car park says it was carried out on a day when there was industrial action by Southern Rail and that this may have affected the results. See top of page 16 of the Parking Study on this link click here
Please do sign the petition and support Oxted's businesses - and forward it to anyone else you think may want to sign. Thank you.
