From the police Borough Commander:
Due to a recent increase in incidents of Anti-social behaviour in Oxted, I have made a decision to implement a dispersal order under S34 Of the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014. This is a short term high impact measure to combat ASB, crime and disorder with additional Police resourcing put in place. The dispersal power allows officers to direct a person(s) who has, or is likely to commit anti-social behaviour to leave a specified area and not return for a period of up to 48 hours. Failure to comply with the direction is a criminal offence.
Please be reassured that there is a considerable amount of work being conducted with partners to tackle those identified as being responsible and a long term problem solving plan is in place. As part of this, we are working closely with British Transport Police to ensure that any persons travelling to the area in order to perpetrate ASB/Crime & Disorder are effectively dealt with.
