Thank you to the many people who have been in contact with their concerns about the signs that had been erected on the upper deck car park of the Morrisons store in Oxted which stated that there was only 10 minutes’ parking allowed when the store was closed.
Morrisons have a planning agreement with Tandridge District Council that only allows them to make changes to parking restrictions during the store’s opening hours with the prior agreement of the Council. As that had not happened, the signs breached that agreement.
Councillor Jackie Wren contacted the property specialist from Morrisons head office and planning and legal officers at Tandridge District Council and we are pleased to say that the signs have been amended today to state the correct information which is that you are allowed to park for a maximum of 2 hours during store opening times. There are no time restraints when the store is closed.
We would like to thank Morrisons for their prompt attention to this matter and their apology for the concern it has caused to the community and local businesses.
